FHM is a private, non-profit and state-approved University. FHM was founded in 2000 by medium-sized enterprises and educational institutions. Since then it has developed into one of the most successful private universities in Germany and established itself as a reliable partner of medium-sized enterprises. The central campus of FHM is located in the centre of Bielefeld. In addition, there are six further locations, in Cologne, Pulheim, Hannover, Rostock, Schwerin and Bamberg.

FHM’s goal is to provide students with the necessary theoretical and hands-on skills needed for their future business career. There are currently more than 2,400 students studying at the FHM on several degree programmes. The programmes on offer include internationally recognised Bachelor and Master programmes within the areas of Economics, Media, Communication, HR, Health and Social Work. FHM’s concept includes a focus on the practical, career orientation, individual tutoring and small group sizes.

FHM also established a Competence Centre in its structure, offering a variety of services. The Centre is an interface between the HEI and the economic sector, especially the HR departments, who are working closely with FHM. The services of the Competence Centre are directed towards companies, to enhance and improve the competences of employees, or to find an appropriate employee for a specific job, and to provide support for companies and the employee in complex situations.

This offering is aimed also at nascent entrepreneurs, students and those wanting to analyse and develop their competences. Therefore, tools helping to identify relevant development needs and the potential of the person are applied and complemented with qualification tools, seminars and coaching.
