The University of Gloucestershire (UOG), the lead partner within the consortium, has 9,000+ students studying a wide range of courses from undergraduate degrees to postgraduate and professional courses. The Business School has 1,000 students and 45 academic staff. It offers programmes covering the full spectrum of disciplines in business, including enterprise, HRM, business management, marketing and retail, as well as accounting and finance, and law.

UoG’s doctoral programme has 300+ participants from many countries. UOG is a sector leader in the promotion and practice of sustainability and the Business School has made considerable progress in incorporating coverage of global responsibility and sustainability into its programmes.

In 2014, UOG was successful in gaining significant national funding to establish a regional Growth Hub within the University and in partnership with the GFirst LEP Local Enterprise Partnership. This initiative is greatly increasing the opportunities for business engagement by both staff and students, and is an important catalyst for ensuring the employability and entrepreneurship of UOG graduates.

UOG has been at the forefront of national developments in the UK relating to employability. It was one of the first universities to implement the Higher Education Achievement Report, having been a member of the initial pilot development group. UOG has a well-developed framework within which students’ graduate attributes and their employability and enterprise skills can be developed and recognised, both in embedded accredited modules and in verified activities that contribute to the DegreePlus (employability) certificate.

A range of centrally organised events, including the Enhanced Student Year initiative, which is run in conjunction with the Students’ Union, Student Support Services, the Growth Hub and employer groups, ensures further development of student skills and graduate attributes and that graduates are enabled to articulate and evidence their skills and attributes.
