After the successful kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ funded GITA project in December in Jakarta, the University of Gloucestershire welcomes the project consortium to Gloucestershire.
The project, led by Professor Neil Towers, promotes the development of entrepreneurial capacity across Indonesia and involves the creation of Growth Hubs in the Indonesian partner universities over the next three years. The triangular approach which forms the basis of the project integrates university-enterprise collaboration, the nurturing of graduate entrepreneurship and enterprise creation.
The project consortium, brings together four European and seven Indonesian universities. European partners include Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland), Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (Germany) and the University of Innsbruck (Austria). Partners in Indonesia include President University in Jakarta, Universitas Padjadjaran in Bandung, Universitas Negeri Semarang in Semarang, Universitas Brawijaya and STIE Malangkucecwara in Malang, as well as Universitas Ahmad Dahlan and Universitas Islam Indonesia in Yogyakarta.
The launch meeting which will be held on the 12th and 13th April at the University of Gloucestershire, will begin with a roundtable discussion attended by the University’s senior management team, including Vice Chancellor Stephen Marston, Deputy Vice Chancellor Richard O’Doherty, and Dean of Academic Development David James.
The main business of the meeting is to develop institutional action plans for the integration of entrepreneurial activity within each Indonesian institution and to plan for the design of physical spaces to be developed into local Growth Hubs, similar to the one based at the University of Gloucestershire. The development of action plans is based on institutional self-assessments using the HEInnovate tool developed by Dublin Institute of Technology. The tool provides a methodology for higher education institutions to explore their entrepreneurial and innovative potential. A further part of the meeting will focus on the launch of the project website http://www.growingindonesia.eu and social media strategy devised by the Business School’s Lead for International Development Nadine Sulkowski and first-year student Bibi Chamberlain.
The meeting will involve a tour of the Growth Hub and interaction with local entrepreneurs at Oxstalls Campus on Thursday afternoon and a cultural event to showcase current entrepreneurial activity across Indonesia at Park Campus on Friday morning.
